Keys
of
A Course in Miracles

Description
These are the reading keys with which the author annotated A Course in Miracles in the Gongarola Version: a hundred interpretations drawn from twenty-five years of study of the Course and ten years of editorial work on the Urtext and Helen Schucman’s notes. None of them is doctrine. They are tools for reading, set out with their reasons and with the passages of the Course that support them, so that you can accept them or not, knowing in every case where the notes were written from.
The hundred Keys are grouped in nine parts, from how to read the Course to how to practice it, and all follow the same plan: a title that states the thesis, a one-paragraph formulation, the passages it rests on, a discussion, and what changes in your reading once you have it. They are dense; each one condenses what in the edition takes dozens of notes spread over thousands of pages. One Key per sitting is a good measure.
A Key earns its place by being useful, since neither author nor reader can establish whether it is true: it lets you read a passage that resisted you and sends you back to it with more attention. When a Key and your own reading of the text disagree, go back to the text. The Course has only one interpreter, and it is not the author.
Particulars of this Edition
Keys of A Course in Miracles is the interpretive backbone of the Gongarola Version made available on its own. The hundred Keys are the reading principles the author arrived at over twenty-five years of study and ten years of editorial work on the Urtext and Helen Schucman’s notes, and they are the principles behind the more than ten thousand notes of the six-volume edition. In the volumes they are scattered across thousands of pages; here each one is stated once, in full, with its reasons. None of them is presented as doctrine. They are tools, and the reader is given what is needed to test them: the exact passages of the Course on which each rests, cited by section, paragraph, and sentence.
Every Key follows the same plan, so the book can be read in any order and opened at the Key you need. A title states the thesis; a one-paragraph formulation sums it up; the textual basis lists the passages that support it; a discussion explains it; and a closing section says what changes in your reading of the Course once you have it, with cross-references to the Keys that complete it. The hundred are grouped in nine parts, from how to read the Course to how to practice it. This is a book for the student who has started the Course more than once, for the one who has lived with it for years and feels the thread slipping, and for anyone who wants to see its thought set out whole and in order. It asks to be read slowly: each Key condenses a great deal into a few pages, and one Key per sitting is a good measure.
